Expect to see only the most outstanding and well crafted Australian short films as the Gold Coast will once again take you on a memorable cinematic outdoor experience with this year’s 19th Annual Movie Extra Tropfest.
A mere short drive from our luxurious but cheap accommodation Main Beach, you’ll get to catch 16 finalist entries for the 2011 Tropfest. Holiday makers at Ocean Sands Resort can join in the festivities as they watch this year’s screening at Circle in Cavill. A huge screen will be set up for the free outdoor event and viewers will get a glimpse of the best short films competing for this year’s Tropfest. Spectators will be viewing the films and the award ceremony through live satellite feed from the main stage in Sydney. Aside from the film showing, there will be also be live performances and entertainments.
Expect to see differently themed shorts that will definitely stir your emotions. Film fanatics and guests at the Ocean Sands Resort can laugh out loud while watching comedic shorts like Y2Gay, A Family Affair, The Applicant, Bird Therapy and Silencer. Some films offer a more poignant theme such as Transparency, Things to Do, Missing Her, and The Unspoken. There are also some films that are just borderline unique and oddly brilliant such as Den Sista Galaxonaut and the stop-motion animation Animal Beatbox. The winners of the competition will enjoy a $150,000 prize and great recognition from the industry’s well esteemed film makers and actors.
